Documentation of the interactive CD-ROM

The first Doors of Perception conference took place in Amsterdam in 1993, bringing together designers, artists, architects and thinkers from around the world to explore the changing relationship between technology, design and society.

The Doors of Perception 1 CD-ROM was published by Mediamatic in 1994 as an interactive version of the conference proceedings. Rather than presenting the material as a conventional publication, the CD-ROM allowed the user to explore the conference through an interactive interface, combining texts, images, sound and other materials.

In 2024, Mediamatic revisited the CD-ROM as part of its exhibition Doors of Perception 1: The CD-Rom, marking 30 years since its original publication.
