I began as a lead guitarist in the Dutch band scene of the late 1970s and 1980s, first with the experimental group Frozen Frog and later in bands such as Dojoji and Funky Stuff.
My fascination with sound began early, experimenting with effects, tape loops and early sampling. In 1987, I bought my first Atari computer to explore digital sound and music. One result was Yaaah/Techno Trance (D‑Shake, 1990), which found its way onto dance floors at clubs such as The Hacienda in Manchester.
Since then, I have composed music and designed sound for more than 150 productions across film, television, theatre and exhibitions. Over the years, I have collaborated with many of the Netherlands’ leading filmmakers, theatre directors and exhibition designers.
My recent work includes the arthouse film Praten met de Nachtwacht by Theu Boermans and the documentary series Het Beloofde Land and Suriname by Coen Verbraak.
In 2006, together with documentary filmmaker Mari Soppela, I co-founded LPMA Productions, through which we produce documentary films.
